PINNK ยท PINNK:MIX 03 - KID FICTION

“Genre is where good music goes to die”, said Sydney musician Kid Fiction in a recent interview, a concept that shines through in his contribution to PINNK:MIX, effortlessly weaving through beats and bass, dub and jungle riddims, rapped lyrics and politically charged spoken word.

“As much as I’ve love the grunge of a rowdy dancefloor at 3am, I never really felt at home behind the decks. Something about it just always just felt clumsy and out of place. It wasn’t until I started to treat the decks as a vehicle for storytelling that things started to come into focus. This mix is kind of a slice of my brain in lockdown 2021, a collage of sound, colour and noise interlaced with bits of podcasts, poetry and politics.”
